Frances St Peter-Sanft, Principal

Dear Franklin Avenue Families,

Whew, our shortened summer begins.  We were reasonably lucky with the heat although we did have some very hot and humid days.

Summer is a time of regression for some students.  Reading just 4 – 5 books during the summer may prevent your child from the summer reading lapse.  A letter was sent home on the last day of school outlining summer reading opportunities.  This letter included both e-book links and the Westfield Public Schools summer reading lists.  We hope every child will find time to read.

Our PTO was amazing this year, working tirelessly for field day and funding several assemblies during the year.   The PTO provided a field day t-shirt to every student.  We are proud to wear our Franklin Avenue spirit.  We couldn't provide these opportunities without the support of this small group and we hope you consider joining in September.

Student and family spirit were high this year as we donated over $2,500 to Baystate Children’s Hospital and other organizations.  Students loved the fun of crazy hair, crazy hats, luau day and our favorite “Dress Your Best.”  Instilling the spirit of giving back is important to our HEART mission and it was evident.

I wish to personally thank you all for your ongoing support during the school year.  Staff members work hard to be sure that each and every year is a year of strong growth and learning for our students.  I look forward to beginning the year with every member of the Franklin Avenue family.
