Spring is here, and we all have lots of time to enjoy it!

Some much has changed for all of us over this past week, but we will continue to learn in a different way.  We made it through a long winter and are now ready for some outside time and flowers. I have chosen some fun books to read and talk about with your children.  As always, they are beautifully illustrated and help target many of the objectives that the students are working on.

The Napping House by: Audrey Wood

The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and The Big Hungry Bear by: Audrey Wood

It’s Not Easy Being A Bunny by:  Marilyn Sadler

All of these stories can be used to address the following objectives:

  • Sequencing

  • Synonyms- (i.e.,all the different words for sleeping)

  • Vocabulary

  • Question responding

  • Predicting

  • Story Grammar (setting, characters, problem, solution)

Highlighted game for the month is Guess Who.  This game is great for helping children to formulate questions, listen to clues, and problem solve.

Enjoy the warmer weather and get outside with your children as much as possible.  Explore all that nature has to offer. You are your child’s first and best teacher.  I know that we are all adjusting to this new way of learning, but we will get there together.  Please email me with any questions you have at n.little@schoolsofwestfield.org.

The website audible.com has several books that are now available to be read outloud for free.  Check them out when you get a chance.

Thanks for all you do,
