You have undoubtedly heard your child refer to "getting a heart" in school. Once classroom teachers have taught the steps of an expected behavior in school such as walking in the hallway or expected behaviors during centers, we all try to acknowledge students who are observed following these steps by giving them a HEART ticket. There are different colored tickets depending on who is giving the ticket. All classroom teachers give red tickets, specialist give pink, the principal gives purple and substitute teachers (or guest teachers) give golden tickets. The excitement over golden tickets is that they are worth 5x what any other ticket is work AND, they may be redeemed immediately upon the return of the regular classroom teacher. Students get very excited when they receive a golden ticket. All HEART tickets are a source of pride for students.
