Mr. Kane

Hello My Name Is...

Mr. Kane

Dan Kane

I am sooooo happy to be a member of this educational family. I have been a Special Education teacher in the Westfield Public Schools for 30 years. My wife, Christine is a teacher in the Springfield School System. My daughter Mary is a graduate of Endicott College with a Masters degree in Education. My daughter Shannon attends Keene State in New Hampshire where she has achieved academic excellence as well. My best friend is Molly, our Bernese Mountain Dog. The other Mr. Kane in our school system is my brother Jim who is the principal of Highland School.

In 2013, I was honored by the Scholastic Education Company as an "Outstanding Teacher of the Year". I was thrilled, but honestly there are MANY outstanding teachers in Westfield!

Outside of school, I am very active in music. I have directed the Dan Kane Singers for over 30 years. They are a 150 member volunteer singing group in town and they are simply awesome! I love helping young people find their inner talents and have tried my best to help many young folks along the way. Music truly IS the universal language!

My personal message:
It is my hope that I can add something positive to the already great educational programs here at Franklin Ave. There are not many jobs in life that have brand new beginnings each year. Teaching is one of them, so make it a great one!
